Benedictine Cell
This small group studies and ponders the Rule of Benedict, the 6th Century
rule now used predominently in the world's monasteries as their guide to
daily communal life. While being an ancient document, this "little rule of life"
is based on Scripture, and has timely words for us to guide our everyday
lives. The group meets about every 2 weeks for an hour, with one person
offering the meditation on the verses/chapter assigned, and the others
then taking turns offering their thoughts. Three commentaries on the Rule
are used as guides to understanding. The first words in Benedict's Rule are
"Listen...to the ear of your heart". These are helpful words in beginning a
"daily conversion to Christ", as author Norveen Vest says in her commentary.
Our own Gail McKay started the Cell in this area, and leads the group. This
is only one of the many ministries in which Gail serves St. Eustace. She
also is a devoted Pasoral Care leader, and leads Morning Prayer on Tuesdays
at 9:00 AM.
